Root Beer Review 2: Bundaberg Australian Root Beer

Name: Bundaberg Australian Root Beer
My Rating: 2/10
My Review: Bundaberg Root Beer was a big disappointment.  The licorice flavor was overpowering.  The brew had very little carbonation and was too sweet for my taste.  Don't let my review discourage you too much.  I dislike licorice (I don't mind a little but this brew has a lot of it).  I will not be trying this Root Beer again...in fact I could not even finish this small bottle.  I purchased this Root Beer at Galco's Soda Pop Stop.
Website: Bundaberg
Ingredients:  Carbonated water, cane sugar, molasses, ginger root, sarsaparilla root, licorice root, vanilla bean, yeast, caramel color, citric acid, preservatives, and root beer flavor.

  1. I am trying it right now. Germans are not fond of root beer at all. Any time I would harangue a relative into bringing me a bottle of root beer from the States, I'd make my German friends try it and they never liked it. They said it tastes like a medicine they had to take as children. It must not be licorice, though, because there is plenty of licorice candy over here. Anyway, there is new shop that's opened up in my neighborhood and they were out of A&W, but had Bundaberg and I thought I'd give it a try. NOPE. I agree with your assessment.

  2. Ya, not a good root beer at all (I guess some would enjoy it). I have had some of Bunderberg's other sodas and they were tasty. I just had a Bunderberg Lemon Lime & Bitters...it was tasty!
